START GROUP
To get the best race experience possible our recommendation is that you choose one of the following starting groups based on your level of running:
★ 12.00: For runners who run a half marathon in 2 hours and for runners who run the first lap (approx. 12K) in the DUO class in 1 hour and 8 min.
★ 12.05: For runners who run a half marathon in 2 hours and 15 minutes and for runners who run the first lap (approx. 12K) in the DUO class in 1 hour and 17 minutes.
★ 12.10: All other runners.
The starting times are examples from 2019 and might be adjusted in 2020.
Note that it is not allowed to run with a stroller or walking poles in the race.
PACEMAKERS
We can help you keep the right pace. Follow one of our pacemakers who run the race at an even pace. The pacemakers will run with a flag which indicates which finish time they are aiming for. If you are running in Duo-klass, you can also follow the pacemakers – just check the average kilometre pace. You can pick up a pace band which helps you keep your kilometre pace at the information desk. There will be pacemakers for the following finish times:
★ 1.40 (4.44 min/km) (white flag) – start 12.00
★ 1.50 (5.13 min/km) (pink flag) – start 12.00
★ 2.00 (5.41 min/km) (light purple flag) – start 12.00
★ 2.10 (6.10 min/km) (blue flag) – start 12.05
★ 2.20 (6.38 min/km) (dark purple flag) – start 12.10
★ 2.30 (7.07 min/km) (black flag) – start 12.10

DUO-CLASS
Participants who are running in the ’Duo-klass’, share the half marathon distance and decide themselves who will run each lap. The first lap runner runs approximately 12km and the second lap runner runs approximately 9km. The changeover zone is on a path which runs parallel to Djurgårdsvägen where participants who have entered the half marathon distance are running. There will be a race timing gantry in the changeover zone which registers the first lap runner’s finish time, which is automatically the second lap runner’s start time. After the changeover both runners in the team run side by side for about 20m before the first lap runner turns right into Biskopsvägen and the finish area. Both individual times for the runners and a total time for the team will be recorded.
THE COURSE
Tjejmilen 21K is run on Södra Djurgården and Gärdet, the park area, close to the centre of Stockholm. The start and finish are at Biskopsudden which you can easily reach by tram. A large part of the course is the same as Tjejmilen 10km but run in the opposite direction. You run two laps – the first has an extra loop on Djurgården and is 12 kilometres, the other lap is 9 kilometres. If you are taking part in the Duo-klass, you simply choose one of the laps each.
Both laps take you past Manilla school and Thielska art gallery before you go round Blockhusudden, run over the cute Lilla Sjötulls bridge and continue along the canal towards Djurgårdsbrunn. Then you run along Djurgårdsbrunnsvägen, past the Maritime museum, Berwaldhallen concert hall and on to Djurgårdsbron. After the bridge you turn left into the park and past the stately old restaurant, Villa Godthem. There is then only a few hundred metres till the end of the lap/changeover/finish line. (Note that this is a preliminary description of the course and alterations can be made)

NICE JEWELRY FOR A FIERCE ACCOMPLISHMENT
All finishers of Tjejmilen 21K will receive a pretty piece of jewelry instead of a medal. Something you can wear to be reminded of your incredible achievement every day! A piece of jewelry to be proud over! So register for the race, start practicing and in a few months you’ll have this pretty piece of jewelry in your hand. The finishing runners get a chain with a new charm every year so if you run multiple years you will eventually have a nice collection.
RUN WITH A PINK BIB
When you register for Tjejmilen, you can choose to run the race for Plan International Sweden and support their work for children’s rights and girl’s equality. Just tick the box that you want to donate an extra 5€ to Plan International. As a ’thank you”, you will get to run the race with a pink Tjejmilen bib as a symbol for your contribution.
HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON
XOXO Tjejmilen 21K.
