TJEJMILEN TRAIL
SEPT 2 2023

REGISTRATION
First start 11:00
Tjejmilen Trail runners have number bibs from 20 001 to 22 000. Everyone should be in the start pens at the same time – but to avoid congestion on the course, we’ll release a few runners every minute between 11:00 and 11:30, with the fastest runners starting first.  You can decide yourself which start pen you start in, in accordance with the following recommendations.  It’s important that you follow these recommendations since, on the certain parts of the course, it’s difficult to overtake other runners.

Stand in the first group – if you have run another 10km trail race under 67 min.
Stand in the middle group – if you have run another 10km trail race between 68-74 min.
Stand at the back – if you have run another 10km trail race between 75-120 min.

At this year’s big Tjemilen party we’re inviting you to Tjejmilen Trail! 10 kilometers in the woods behind Tjejmilen’s event area. The course will take you through varied and sometimes challenging terrain, but both the start and the finish are in the middle of the big Tjejmilen party at Gärdet. Running at the heart of nature combined with the party atmosphere at the event area is our recipe for this epic running experience. Welcome to the starting line on September 3rd 2022!

ALMOST 10K AT THE HEART OF NATURE

The beautiful nature that’s hidden just behind the Tjemilen event area is the main ingredient for Tjemilen Trail. The course will take you through varied terrain with both narrow and wide trails. The start and the finish are located at the same place as Tjejmilen’s, but instead of running on asphalt you will quickly run into the woods where challenging terrain and scenic surroundings await.

A TRAIL RUN FOR EVERYONE

Tjejmilen Trail is a race for runners at all levels – run all out if you’re going for a fast time, or take your time and enjoy nature. Maybe you’re looking for a new challenge and want to try trail running for the first time? Tjejmilen Trail is just challenging enough with no deep mud or mire, but with some technical trails and tougher terrain.

PARTY

Thanks to the fact that Tjemilen Trail takes place on the same day as Tjejmilen, a race with thousands of participants, the trail runners will be part of the festivities at Gärdet and get the best of both worlds: beautiful running at the heart of nature and a big party at the finish line.
And of course, once you cross that finish line, you’ll get the sough after medal that you’ve fought so bravely for in the woods!

THE COURSE

The Tjejmilen Trail course will be approximately 10K and will be integrated with Tjemilen’s start and finish area at Gärdet in Stockholm. Read more about the course below.

Start
The start is on Lindarängsvägen on Gärdet, the same place as regular Tjejmilen. After just 250 metres the course turns in to the forest and you’ll run on a wide path for a little over one kilometre. You can enjoy the forest and the path is wide enough to overtake if you want.  The first refreshment station is here, so take the opportunity to take in some liquid.

Approx 2 km
Just before two kilometres, you reach a leafy forest glade. You’ll run on grass  and pass Sweden’s largest and oldest animal cemetery where our beloved dogs, cats, horses, parrots, tortoises and rabbits are buried. There’s even a separate grove for hamsters and guinea pigs.

After a while, you’ll come to one of Royal Djurgården’s well-kept promenades and run almost a kilometre alongside the glittering Lilla Värtan, a part of the Baltic Sea. On the other side of the water, you’ll see the island of Lidingö, before you return to another wide forest path. After about two hundred metres, the path narrows and we can promise you a genuine trail experience. It’s just you and Mother Nature.  The second refreshment station is also here.

Approx 6 km
After just under a kilometre you’ll come out onto a broader park road again – you can relax a little here and let your legs run a few hundred metres before you need to sharpen your senses again as you run alternately on narrow then slightly wider paths.  You’ll run past the communications tower, Kaknästornet, which is 155 metres and 34 storeys high.

At just over 6.5 km, you’ll probably begin to feel tired – and now, you reach one of the undulating jogging tracks which are located around Kaknästornet, and continue running on this for about 600 metres. Take the chance to drink a little at the refreshment station before we steer you, via short stretches of narrow paths, back to the jogging track.  These final kilometres of the course are hilly, so be prepared for tired muscles.

Almost finished
With little over a kilometre to go, you’ll leave the track and run again on the winding paths. Your last 70 metres before the finish is a grassy surface.  Now you have the finish line in sight, which is located on the part of Gärdet which is called the Sports Field.  There are football pitches, beach-volleyball, cricket pitches and much more on the 100,000 square metre area. Welcome back to Tjejmilen’s event area on Gärdet.
